Play Ball Girls: Spring 2012 Softball Registration is OPEN!

Softball is more than just a game! As early as the 6U division, playing catch, chasing balls, getting great hits, and cheering for your teammates while they run around the bases creates friendships that last on and off bench!

The joy in playing softball leads to other great things like sharing a pizza, watching a PHS varsity game, taking in a movie or two with your teammates and before you know it, solid friendships are formed that follow into middle school, high school and beyond. Each spring these friendships bloom in the presence of an 11 or 12-inch softball!

The emphasis of this league is placed on having fun, while developing solid fundamental softball skills. Participation makes it "fun". The softball program focuses on skill development, team cooperation, sportsmanship and respect for others. The Piedmont Softball league also has age targeted coaching and skill clinics led by professional coaches to help fully develop our players' abilities.

Teams are selected the first week in February and rosters distributed shortly thereafter. Softball involves one weekly practice and Saturday games beginning about the first weekend in March, ending in June. Games are played against teams from Piedmont, Oakland and Alameda.

ASA Affiliation

We are affiliated with the Amateur Softball Association of America, an organization that governs the sport for men and women of all ages. We play games between Piedmont teams and other communities affiliated with ASA such as teams from Oakland and Alameda.

The Amateur Softball Association (ASA), a volunteer driven, not-for-profit organization based in Oklahoma City, OK, was founded in 1933 and has evolved into the strongest softball organization in the country. The growth and development of the association led the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) to name the ASA the National Governing Body of Softball, pursuant to the Amateur Sports Act of 1978.

The ASA has many important responsibilities as the national governing body of softball in the United States, including regulating competition to insure fairness and equal opportunity to the millions of player who annually play the sport.

The ASA has become one of the nation's largest and fastest growing sports organizations and now sanctions competition in every state through a network of 93 state and metro associations. The ASA has grown from a few hundred teams in the early days to over 250,000 teams today, representing a membership of more than four million.
